Spelling was my best subject throughout school, and this was a useful skill to have in the days before spellcheck. My biggest claim to fame is placing 11th in the California State Spelling Bee in 1993, during the spring of 7th grade. All my childhood trophies have bees on them [...]

Remember cleaning out your desk before the winter break? This one stayed open by itself, but other kids needed to prop theirs up with rulers. Most modern desks have a flat surface and cubbyhole instead of a hinged lid, but these are relics from the old days. Mr. Neubacher believes [...]

The Benson Memorial Center dining commons, the place where I had ever so many a meal. This woman was there when I was in school and actually remembered me. I ate my favorite SCU breakfast, scrambled eggs and tater tots (pictured above), two days in a row. I doused them with ketchup, and their greasy [...]

At the age of 28, I went back to kindergarten. I needed to get my life back on track, and I wanted to start over from the very beginning.

Over several months, I repeated my education, from kindergarten to college. I spent the months that followed learning how to grow up. I'm still learning.

This site is a place for me to tell my story of education, and for you to tell yours: our experiences past and present, and our vision for how it could look in the future.
