Hello, my loved ones! I always feel like I keep few friends until I send mass emails, and then I realize how many of you there are. I remember feeling so loved when I was miserable upon arriving in Spain in Fall 2000 to study abroad. I will definitely need your support again as I head back there.
As many of you know, I’ll be in Europe for the coming year. That’s the plan, anyway. My itinerary is as follows:
July 30 (my 22nd birthday)-August 7: My family is exchanging homes with a family who lives in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
August 7-9: Brugge, Belgium with the family
August 9-12: Paris with the family, my friend Katie, and boyfriend Matt
August 12-30: Matt, Katie and I travel to….
* Berlin,Germany
* Prague, Czech Republic
* Budapest, Hungary
* Vienna, Austria
* Salzburg, Austria
* Venice, Italy
It’s my first Eurail tour of Europe, and I can’t wait.
From August 30 until next summer (??), Matt and I will live in Barcelona, Spain, and find work. We
realize that this is a crazy plan, but we’re ready for some adventure in our beloved adopted homeland.
Assuming I find lodging in Barcelona, I’ll send you my contact info once I get there. I would love for you all to write me while I’m abroad. It will be exciting, but scary and lonely at first.
Love to you all,
Melia
Reschool Yourself is a year-long project in self-education and empowerment. This fall, to understand how school shaped my identity, and to reconnect with my imagination and intuition, I'm returning to my childhood classrooms week by week. In the spring, in order to become as self-sufficient as possible, I'll pursue learning opportunities in the U.S. and abroad. Throughout the year, I'll share my transformative experiences of "reschooling" through this website, in the hopes that readers of all ages will exchange their own.
